The Shreveport Symphony is gearing up for its four Discovery Concerts on January 30 – February 1, 2019.
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, Maestro Michael Butterman will lead students in grades 3-5 in an interactive concert experience, utilizing written and artistic input from students describing examples of what the future might look like and the kind of courage it would take to "Reach for the Stars".
All concerts will take place at First Baptist Shreveport (543 Ockley Drive). This project is supported by a grant from the Community Foundation and funding from Caddo Parish Schools. Therefore, the Discovery concerts are free of charge to all public school students, and $5 per person for private and homeschool groups. Schools that choose to participate will also receive free curriculum materials, including teacher guides with suggestions of activities to help prepare for the culminating performance.
