Discovery Concerts

The Shreveport Symphony is gearing up for its four Discovery Concerts on January 30 – January 31, 2020.

There are many parallels between architecture and music, including a multitude of styles, the ability to elicit different emotions, and their inspiration by ideas around us. This year, Maestro Michael Butterman will guide students on an exploration of common themes between the building blocks of music and architecture in our program "Build it! Exploring Music and Architecture."

All concerts will take place at Riverview Theater. This project is supported by a grant from the Community Foundation and funding from Caddo Parish Schools. Therefore, the Discovery concerts are free of charge to all public school students, and $5 per person for private and homeschool groups. Schools that choose to participate will also receive free curriculum materials, including teacher guides with suggestions of activities to help prepare for the culminating performance.
