SSO ON THE GO – In-School Educational Performances

The musicians of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra perform throughout our community all year long. They share their love of music through interactive performances, demonstrations, and coaching sessions!

Sym-Phonics: A vital part of our SSO ON THE GO geared toward pre-k and kindergarten students, a musician and storyteller join students directly in the classroom for a story time adventure. Students are encouraged to sing, dance, clap, and move to the music that helps demonstrate the stories presented.

Musical Families: A chamber ensemble featuring one of the four instrumental families of the orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion) visit directly into classrooms and school assemblies. These interactive performances offer basic introductions to orchestral musicians, to the instruments they play, and to many different styles of music. These program is ideal for 1st through 5th grade.

Music Mentors: For middle and high schoolers, SSO musicians will serve as coaches and mentors to small groups of middle and high school aged students who are already participating in band or orchestra programs, giving them important one-on-one support and guidance in their musical studies.

Cost: Thanks to generous support from our supporters the SSO On the Go programs are free of charge to all public schools in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
